Cancelling Your Subscription

Canceling, Downgrading, or Changing Your Plan

What happens to your photos, your PFarms, and your family record when you change plans.

Date created: 2026-05-03

Life happens. Sometimes you need to step down a plan, pause your subscription, or cancel entirely. Pfotos is designed to handle these moments gracefully — your family's record stays safe no matter what happens with your billing.

How to cancel on your iPhone or iPad

If you subscribed through the Pfotos app on your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Find Pfotos in the list
  5. Tap it, then tap Cancel Subscription

This is Apple's process, not Pfotos' — Apple requires that subscriptions purchased through the App Store be managed through their system.

How to cancel on the web

If you subscribed through the Pfotos website (pfotos.co):

  1. Sign in at pfotos.co
  2. Go to AccountSubscription
  3. Tap Manage Subscription or Cancel

What happens when I cancel

Pfotos follows current best practices for subscription services. Here's exactly what happens:

1. You keep paid access for the full period you paid for.

If you paid for the month, you have access until the end of that month — even if you cancel on day 1.

2. At the end of your paid period, you'll drop to Seedling (the free plan).

Unless you choose a different paid plan before your period ends, you'll automatically move to Seedling. You won't be charged again.

3. Your photos, memories, and PFarms are never deleted.

This is important: Pfotos does not delete your content when you cancel. Everything you've added stays where it is. You'll always be able to see it. You'll always be able to download it.

4. If your content is over the Seedling limit, it enters read-only mode.

If you had more than 1 GB of photos, more than one PFarm, or other content beyond what Seedling allows, that content stays in your account in read-only mode. You can:

  • ✅ View everything you already have
  • ✅ Download or export your content
  • ❌ Add new photos that would compound being over the limit
  • ❌ Edit or tag the over-limit content

This is a protective state, not a punitive one. It's there to keep your family history safe while making sure the free tier remains free for everyone.

5. You have a 60-day grace period.

For 60 days after a downgrade, Pfotos will reach out (gently, not aggressively) to let you know about your account state and your options. We're not trying to pressure you back into a subscription — we just want to make sure nothing gets lost.

What if I have multiple PFarms and downgrade to Seedling?

Seedling allows one PFarm. If you have several:

  • All of them are preserved.
  • You'll be asked to pick one as your "primary" — the active PFarm you can keep adding to.
  • The others stay in your account in view + download mode.
  • You can't switch your primary while on Seedling — you'll need to upgrade to a paid plan again to do that.

This is set up to give you the most flexibility while keeping the free tier sustainable.

What if I'm in a tough spot financially?

Write to us at support@pfotos.app. We're a small team, and we'd rather help you stay in your family's record than lose you to billing trouble. Sometimes we can offer:

  • A discount on a lower tier
  • A grace period on your current plan
  • A coupon for a few months free if you've been a long-time member

We can't promise any specific outcome, but we'd rather have the conversation than not. Just write us.

What about refunds?

For App Store subscriptions: refunds are handled by Apple. You can request one through Apple's support system.

For web subscriptions: write to us. We handle refund requests case-by-case and try to be fair.

What happens to my account if I never come back?

Nothing bad. Your content stays where it is. Future generations of your family can still access it (if you've shared access with them). Pfotos was built to outlast individual subscriptions — your great-grandchildren should be able to find what you saved.
