Pfotos is a place for your family's photos, names, and stories — the everyday moments and the big ones, the people you remember and the ones you'd like to know more about. This article is a short walkthrough to help you get oriented in your first few minutes.
Step 1 — Create your PFarm
Once you've signed in, the first thing you'll do is create a PFarm. Think of a PFarm as your family's vault — everything you save in Pfotos lives inside one. Photos, the people in them, the stories that go with them, the records that document them. It's private by default, and only the people you invite can see it.
Most families start with one PFarm and add more later if it makes sense. There's no rush.
Step 2 — Add a few photos or write a memory
You can:
- Upload photos from your phone or computer
- Write a memory without a photo (a story you remember about someone)
- Add a person to your family tree
- Or just look around for a bit before doing any of that
Pfotos is built to hold whatever you have — a single photo, an old letter you'd type up, or a paragraph of memory about a grandparent. Photos are useful, but they're not required. The story matters too.
Step 3 — Invite your family
Pfotos works best when more than one person is helping. Once you've added a few things, invite the family members who'd want to see them or add their own. They can be on a phone or a computer — Pfotos works on both.
When you invite someone to your PFarm, you can choose what they're allowed to do (just look, help add things, or help manage the PFarm).
Step 4 — Take your time
You don't have to figure everything out in your first session. Most families build their PFarm slowly over weeks and months. Add a few photos when you have time. Write down a memory before you forget it. Invite one cousin this week and another next month. Pfotos is patient — your family's history is too.

If you're a 65+ user or anyone who'd just rather talk to a human about it, you can also write to us — we're a small team and we read every message.
